My daughter calls me the Picture Lady, so I must remain true to my title. Since school has started back, I have taken a picture of my daughter just about everyday. I really like the shadow in this picture because it remains me of the size she was when she was in kindergarten. You can see more pictures of shadows at this weeks photo challenge here http://www.iheartfaces.com/2013/09/shadows-photo-challenge/
Life is filled with many fun moments! I believe you always have to have a camera with you so you don't miss to many of them. I know this is my first post in a very long time but I am still around enjoying life and having fun taking pictures (by the millions).
What I can say it has been a very long time since I have posted anything. I took this photo last year of my daughter wearing my wedding dress. I thought this was an amazing idea. Of course I cannot take the credit for the idea, I saw the photo on Pinterest. I hope to share this photo on my daughter's wedding day with her. I know she has a long time before that happens but one day she will get married and I think this photo will be a great keepsake to share again with her on that day.
Photography is still something I love to do, so this photo is my entry for:
One of the last project's my daughter had to do for school was a poetry recital.
My daughter decided she wanted to write her own poem and make a doll box.
I always tell my daughter to think outside of the box. Of course,
sometimes thinking outside of the box is good and sometimes it is a lot more
work. At the end of the day without hard work I feel no real since of
accomplishment. So I am happy at an early age my daughter wants to work
hard on her class projects. The kids really liked the doll box
, even the boys wanted to play Ken and pose in the doll box.
Doll Box Instructions
The box was really easy to make. I picked up an appliance box from
Lowes. I also purchase a gallon of paint from Lowes. If you
look in their premixed section of paint you can purchase paint for up to 60%
off or more. I painted the box one solid color. In the front of the
box I added some polka dot masking tape to jazz it up a little. My
daughter and I also painted flowers, and the doll logo on poster boards.
I added the flowers and doll logo using a spray adhesive to attach to the
box. I can an opening in the front of the box and added a shower curtain to make the box look more like a real doll box. On the inside of the box we painted blue and white to look like a sky. I also added a pink Eiffel Tower inside. I also made a small door on the back of the box so she could easily get in and out with out anyone having to left the box.
It has been months since I have posted anything. I have been in full DIY with everything. I have done numerous projects since my last post from teacher appreciation, to schools projects and more. So today I decided to rejoin the blogging world. I will share a few of the projects I have done over the last couple of months on my blog for the next 4 weeks or so. Today I would like to share the DIY Doll Silhouette Shirt , Zebra Ribbon Leggings, and hair bow I made for my daughter.
Supplies used for T-Shirt:
Black Fabric Paint
Black Acrylic Paint
Zebra Print Ribbon
Zebra Print Fabric
Supplies used for Hair Bow
Zebra Print Fabric
Supplies Used For Legging
Zebra Print Ribbon
Black Stitch Witchery
I found a silhouette online. I used a font I had on my computer to make my daughter's name. I printed the design on regular paper then proceeded to cut out the outline on freezer paper. I placed the freezer paper on top of the shirt with the shiny side down on the fabric. I used the iron to seal the freezer paper outline in place. I then proceeded to mix a little of the fabric and acrylic paint together. I would say I used more of the fabric paint than the acrylic (unsure of exact measurements). I used a sponge brush to apply to the paint to the fabric.. I let the paint dry overnight. I cut a strip of fabric with pinking shears to create the ruffle around the top. I used ribbon and a bling button to make the hair bow for the shirt. I also added a ruffle circle next to her name and with another bling button.
The leggings were super easy to do. I just measure the length of the leggings to cut the ribbon. I placed the stitch witchery on the bottom and then the ribbon on top and covered with a t-shirt (to keep the wax or vinyl on the ribbon from melting) and iron them both in place.
I used pink shears to cut the fabric and ruffled it into a circle attached any cover to a barrette.
I had so much fun making this. My little girl loved wearing her new custom outfit. I am not a great sewing of any kind. I have a lot to learn. I really enjoy creating new fashions from things I already have on had.
Here is my photo of the week for the Black and White Photo Challenge at iheartfaces.com I took this picture on Monday of this week of my daughter with her new friend. I love this photograph because, my daughter is learning to overcome her fear of dogs. She really enjoyed playing with Belle.
A father's love is an amazing kind of thing, because sometimes we do not always get to see it. Here is a sweet moment between my husband and daughter. I took this photo back in November. I entered this photo in this week iheartfaces photo challenge: Hugs and Kisses.
